The helmet should cover the top of the forehead and should rest about 2 fingers’ width above the eyebrows.Straps should meet snugly in a V-shape just below the ears. One finger should fit between the chin and chin straps. For additional guidance, you may also want to check sizes of individual brands.

GlovePre-T-ball players under age 5 should choose a 9-inch glove.

T-ball, ages 5 to 7 should choose a 9- to 11-inch glove.

Youth softball, 8 to 12: 10.5- to 13-inch.
Ball (optional)Having your own ball is helpful if you would like to practise at home with your child.  We recommend a softball instead of a baseball for the U7 (T-ball)) players.

U-9 (3-Pitch) uses an 11″ ball
U-11 uses a 12″ ball
BatChoosing the right bat:
Children under 60 pounds should swing a bat between 26 and 29 inches long.
Children weighing more than 70 pounds should swing a bat ranging from 28 to 38 inches long.
For U11 you should use a bat between 28 and 38 inches long and between 16 oz and 20 oz in weight.

Note: Many bats don’t tell you both the length and weight. Instead they give either length or weight and then give you a “drop”. The drop is the length in inches minus the weight in oz.
So a 29″ bat with a “drop 13” would weigh 16 oz.

To estimate appropriate length:
Place the bat knob at the center of your chest and extend the barrel out toward your fingertips.
If you can touch the end of the bat with your fingertips, the bat is an appropriate size.

When buying a bat, make sure it is a softball bat, not a hard ball bat.
U-11 and U-13 must purchase a fast pitch softball bat, as opposed to a slow pitch softball bat.
Appropriate bats are indicated through certification logos on the bat:
